Packaging for fish leather jewellery

Local jewellery designer JóLe Hönnun creates head- and wristworn pieces from fish and cow leather. Her products are beautiful, but she currently ships her products in taped shoe boxes cut in half. She came to the FabLab to ask if we could help her develop a packaging that would display her products and protect them during shipping. I tried to create a solution that is simple, yet has a look fitting the unique charm of the fish leather jewellery.

Spreading the 3D fever

FabLab Vestmannaeyjar teaches four groups of pupils from the local high school every week. I was the the guest lecturer of the week, and explained about interactive projects, 3D Design, animations, the steps from idea to prototype and so on. Media designer Sighvatur Jónsson is creating an interactive installation for the folkmuseum of Vestmannaeyjar. The visitors of the museum can listen to historic sailing correspondence by turning the knob. We have been playing around with the Fluxamasynth shield for the Arduino. This enables the Ardunio to translate any kind of sensor input into synthesizer sounds. It has been like one big 80′s memory trip. The Fluxamasynth shield is a fantastic creation and the result of the FabAcademy project of Shawn Wallace.

The Interactive Square

FabLab Vestmannaeyjar is developing a very interesting project called the interactive square. The goal is to create a public playground that enables children to create music by playing together. This will be achieved by connecting different senors that read the kids movement, where they step, as well as letting them record samples of speech.
